The Carolina Panthers won’t having their starting rusher for a second straight outing.
Running back Chuba Hubbard has been ruled out from the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The decision came on Friday’s injury report, which listed the fifth-year veteran as a non-participant for the sixth consecutive practice.
Hubbard has been dealing with a calf strain. He was kept out from the Week 5 victory over the Miami Dolphins, where Rico Dowdle received the start.
On Wednesday, head coach Dave Canales talked about the outlook between Hubbard and Dowdle moving forward.
“Chuba—we’re gonna evaluate him every day, and kinda see where he’s at,” Canales told reporters. “And then, with he and Rico, what I take from it is—we have two good backs. We’ll have to figure that part out. That’s a good problem to have, but it’s something that we have to work through.”
Dowdle rushed for a career-high 206 yards and a touchdown in the 27-24 win last Sunday.
